SFSD Return to Play for Athletics (Updated 4.19.21)

The Sioux Falls School District Activities Department’s top priority is and will be the health and safety of our student participants, staff, and spectators as we work to provide activities for the 2020-2021 school year. District Administrators have worked with city, state, and national officials to develop the following safety guidelines and protocols for each activity. These guidelines and protocols will continually be evaluated to ensure the health and safety of all. If a decision is made to alter, delay, or cancel any of our activities we will issue appropriate communication to all stakeholders and local media. We appreciate your understanding as we diligently work to provide meaningful activity opportunities for our students in the Sioux Falls School District.

SFSD Athletics Mode Of Operation: TIER 3

On Monday, April 19, 2021, the Sioux Falls School Board has acknowledged the recommendation that outdoor Activities (Track and Field, Girls Golf, Boys Tennis and Baseball) in the Sioux Falls School District will continue, for the time being, with NO spectator attendance restrictions starting on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. Activities held indoors will still continue operating with spectator attendance restrictions based on the capacity of the host facility. This decision will be monitored and assessed very closely and the spectator attendance restrictions may be reimplemented at any time, to ensure the District stays in traditional learning through the end of the school year. Please note that all other guidelines and protocols are still in place, and masks are still expected at all indoor and outdoor Activities. These guidelines and protocols have provided the opportunity for safety at our activities and ultimately support our primary goal of continuing a traditional school setting in the Sioux Falls School District. The Sioux Falls School District Activities Department’s top priority is, and will be, the health and safety of our student participants, staff, and spectators as we continue to provide activities for the 2020-2021 school year.
